Sometimes people get stuck in the rut of not knowing what to do or how to do it because they've grown comfortable in their profession and are limiting their thought processes to the way that they have been trained and have worked for many years. When this thought limiting starts affecting finding solutions to various process and product improvement problems, something needs to be done.
If your business is looking to introduce a new product or service, or correct an issue with an existing product or service, every possible solution should be considered. If your employees cannot think outside of the box, and come up with new ideas, then it is very likely that the best solution will not be realized. One way to help your employees think outside of the box is to use a Six Sigma project to identify the ideal solution. If you are new to Six Sigma, bringing in consultants to assist in a Six Sigma project is one way to bring new ideas to your business. If you don't need consultants, or would prefer not to use them, then the Six Sigma project will provide the tools and guidance to your employees to help them think outside of the box.
It is easy to understand why employees may be opposed to the fact that a business would bring in consultants to work on a Six Sigma project. When a company brings in consultants there is always a fear that it means the business will end up laying off employees. If employees have this mindset, then they will be opposed to even the concept of a Six Sigma project, which means the project will not be as effective as it should be. As the owner of a business, or the manager of the Six Sigma project, one of your most important responsibilities is to assure employees that the project will be good for the company and the employees, and that no body's job is in jeopardy.
The Six Sigma Process itself strikes up a lot of controversy because of its glamorous climb to fame within the business and problem solving worlds. It is all the rage, and just about everyone is doing it. However, unlike many other practices that will mess up your unique nature, Six Sigma Projects can help any business that utilizes them to the best of their abilities. It doesn't matter if there are three Six Sigma companies that offer courses in training or 3 million. As long as you take the time to learn, experience, and understand the process of Six Sigma, you can definitely find a use for it within your business life.
When you are looking to come up with an innovative solution, to solve an issue with an existing process, or develop a new process, then the best thing you can do is start a Six Sigma project. The Six Sigma project will guide you, and provide tools, to help you come up with not only an innovative solution, but the ideal solution for your business.
