Having the proper Six Sigma Training is essential to the success of a Six Sigma Process. There are so many tools and principles that need to be learned that it is easy to get overwhelmed. However, when you take the time to check into Six Sigma even further, you'll realize that there are a whole other set of tools that you'll need to have. These tools are about your personality and the personality of those working in your business.

When you are running a Six Sigma project, it is essential that you are personally invested in the project, and committed to the success of the project no matter what obstacles may stand in your way. One of the keys to a successful Six Sigma project is how well you communicate with the members of your project team, as well as any other employees in your company who are not directly involved in the project.

You should also be able to utilize change agents to keep everyone receptive to the process improvement projects, and you should be able to reassure everyone yourself that the improvements are for the good of the company, and what's good for the company is good for the employees. The only problems that you might run into here are that people will think that the waste reduction parts of Lean principles applied to Six Sigma might jeopardize their jobs, roles, or positions within the company. This could create a hostile environment, so do your best to ensure everyone that their jobs are secure and that the change is for the betterment of everyone.

In larger organizations you will likely face much more opposition. This is where patience and the ability to handle stress and pressure come in. Six Sigma Projects are not easy, and they are not quick little fixes. They take a lot of time, a lot of resources, and even though the end result is well worth it, they can prove to be challenging for anyone who gets involved with them.

Learning the proper tools for Six Sigma is easily done through training courses and experience in projects that are going on in your workplace. Learning the personality traits that a leader of such a big process needs to have is much more difficult, and the self reflection that is often involved in the process can be hard for some people to deal with. The best way to make sure that you're capable of being the leader that your company needs is to hire an objective outside source as a team leader and work alongside them to see how well your abilities stack up.
